Most flooring quotes hide the two things that actually decide what you pay: what is under the existing floor, and what the subfloor is made of. Particle board has to come up and go back as plywood. A concrete slab needs a moisture barrier or the floor cups. Neither is visible from a photo, and neither should be a surprise on the invoice.

So this designer asks about the subfloor up front, and if the honest answer is "I have no idea" — which it is for most people — it says so, prices the likely case, and flags that we lift a corner in a closet before anything is ordered. You can measure the room in AR on an Android phone, import a Polycam or RoomPlan scan from an iPhone, or just send photos. Every number on screen is the installed price with our own crew, not a per-square-foot teaser.

Confirm square footage on site and check the floor for flatness before any material is ordered.
Remove the existing carpet and haul it away.
Acclimate the material on site, then lay it with the manufacturer's required expansion gap at every wall.
Install quarter-round to cover the expansion gap.
Clean up, vacuum, and leave the space usable the day we finish.

How accurate is the phone scan?: On a LiDAR iPhone or a recent Android, a room scan is typically within an inch or two — plenty to price from. We still measure with a tape before ordering material, because you should never pay for boards you did not need.
What if my subfloor turns out to be particle board?: Then it has to come up and go back as 3/4 inch plywood, and the price moves. We find that out by lifting a corner of carpet in a closet during the measure — before anything is ordered — and we tell you the new number then, not afterwards.
Can I supply my own flooring?: Yes. Switch material supply to "I already bought it" and the quote drops to installation only. We will confirm the thickness and quantity before install day so you are not short two boxes on the last afternoon.
Do you move the furniture?: We can. It is priced per room in the designer. If you would rather clear the rooms yourself, switch it off and the price comes down.
